NATRACEUTICALS GETS BIGGER, MAY LOOK FOR AGENCY

Natraceuticals Inc. of Markham, Ont. has bought Champion's Choice Advanced Nutrition Inc. of B.C. Currently, advertising for both companies is done in-house, but Natraceuticals may look for an agency in the next couple of months, president and CEO Mark Couper told Adnews yesterday. The company may hire an agency because it wants to expand its distribution channels and possibly do radio and TV ads in 1998. Natraceuticals products are sold at 1,400 health food stores across Canada. It is looking at selling in sports stores as well. Natraceuticals sells vitamins, sports products and green foods under its Nu-Life, NHF and Gandalf brand names. The world's fastest man, Donovan Bailey, signed on as spokesperson for Natraceuticals in April. Since then he has been used in posters, print ads and in-store materials created in-house.
