COCA-COLA ADDS ANOTHER TO PRODUCT LINE-UP

U.S.-based Coca Cola Co. has taken another bite into the Canadian soft drink market. The company introduced Barq's Root Beer, Diet Root Beer and Cream Soda to the Canadian market last week. Barq's has a "bite" to it as a result of the combination of more carbonation and lower sugar content. There is also no foamy head consumers often associate with traditional root beers. Advertising for Barq's will begin in August using TV and sampling. The English campaign will be created by MacLaren McCann of Toronto. Marketel of Montreal will handle the Quebec campaign. Barq's was created in 1898 in Biloxi, Mississippi. The company was purchased by Coca-Cola in August, 1995.
