CIGAR OUTLET TO SPEND MORE ON ADVERTISING
By Adnews Staff
Winston & Holmes of Toronto has renovated its flagship store and plans to increase its ad spend and diversify its advertising to promote the location, corporate sales manager Allan Hechtman told Adnews last week. The tobacconist spends over $500,000 on advertising a year. Hechtman couldn't comment on how much will be spent this year, but said it would increase. Winston & Holmes has mainly advertised in The Globe and Mail, but has recently moved into The Toronto Star and Toronto Life magazine. Its new Web site will be fully operational later this week. Winston & Holmes is also looking at launching radio ads. Advertising for the company is done in-house with the help of Summit Grpahic Communications of Mississauga, Ont. Winston & Holmes has renovated its flagship store from a single level 700 square-foot structure to a 3,000 square-foot outlet with a second level. A barber shop on the first floor will give visitors a shave with a straight razor. All the money raised will be donated to The Hospital for Sick Children Foundation. The second floor features two attractions: a Cigar Lounge and a walk in humidor. Winston & Holmes has three Toronto locations.
