OJC TAKES HORSE RACES ELECTRONIC

The Ontario Jockey Club has brought the horse races home. The organization launched its HorsePlayer Interacitve service this week that allows horse race enthusiasts to bet by phone, surf the Internet for up-to-the-minute odds, previews and racing information, and watch live video coverage of races on their TVs. Telephone wagering can be placed using a Bell Canada Vista 350 screenphone. It will allow subscribers to see their bets on the screen, view the latest odds and obtain access to interactive services such as banking, lottery and sports results, movie listings and weather reports. To view races on their TVs, subscribers will use the multichannel multipoint distribution system. Over the Internet, users can get real-time video and audio coverage of races and view the virtual toteboard for up-to-the-minute odds. Newspaper and TV advertising will support Horeseplayer Interactive. It was created in-house, with the help of Waplington, Forty, McGall of Toronto.
