Metro conducts cooking events

Grocery store chain Metro recently conducted a holiday season promotion during which seniors taught cooking to younger consumers. According to the company, the promotion was intended to counter social isolation among older Canadians and improve basic life skills such as cooking among younger Canadians. The events took place in Ottawa on Dec. 11, in Kingston on Dec. 13 and in Toronto on Dec. 17. Metro has also donated $1,500 to community organizatios WOCRC, Seniors Kingston and Dixon Hall.

“Across cultures, regardless of your background, elders carry the wisdom to pass down knowledge, stories, and even beloved recipes, like the perfect holiday ham,” said Joe Fusco, senior vice-president of Metro. “But as the 2023 holiday season approaches, many millennials are stepping up to own family hosting duties for the first time. So, we’re giving them the help of some true, seasoned kitchen pros.”
