STAR CHOICE ANNOUNCES LAUNCH LINE-UP
By Adnews Staff
Fresh from a deal with Shaw Communications, the Star Choice Television Network said earlier this week that its direct-to-home satellite TV service will launch an introductory package on April 30. Star Choice's initial offering includes eastern and western variants. Both services offer viewers over 50 channels, of which 30 are digital audio. Star Choice says enhanced packages of over 75 channels will also be available on the service's launch date, with packages including over 100 channels scheduled for a September release. To speed up its launch date, Star Choice Communications acquired Shaw Communications' direct-to-home service in March. In return, Shaw received a 50% stake in Star Choice. Star Choice officials could not be reached to comment on any launch advertising plans. In an earlier interview, company officials said a national TV, radio and print campaign, handled by Simpson Gilbert Chambers of Sackville, New Brunswick, would hit at the same time the service launches. Bristol Communications Inc. of Nova Scotia handles Star Choice's PR. The Star Choice Television Network is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Star Choice Communications Inc. of New Brunswick.
