QUEBECOR INCREASES REGIONAL NEWSPAPER OWNERSHIP

Montreal-based Quebecor Communications is buying the regional newspapers of Le Groupe Bellavance of Rimouski, Quebec. Bellavance owns 12 publications including Proges-Echo Dimanche, Le Riverain, Le Journal Chaleur, L'Avant-poste, Vision, Le Havre and Le Pharillon. The newspapers have a combined weekly circulation of 146,000. Quebecor publishes newspapers, magazines and books. In addition, it is an independent record distributor and retailer.
