CALL IN NUMBERS BECOMING MORE POPULAR
By Adnews Staff
Call-in numbers that service customers are gaining in popularity, according to a survey conducted by the Angus Reid Group. Twenty-nine per cent of respondents said they are using customer service numbers more than they were a year ago. Ninety-two per cent have called a 1-800, 1-888 or other type of number for service or transaction over the past year. Of this group, 67% have used some type of call-in number in the past four weeks. A quarter of those who used a call-in number in the past year did so in order to purchase a product. Other reasons for calling include credit card statement inquiries, technical assistance, specific product or service information, general information, banking and investment or government information and various business purposes. Angus Reid interviewed 1,504 Canadian adults between Feb. 25 and March 2.
