Mastercard conducts Secret Sauce campaign

Credit card company Mastercard has begun a new campaign called “Secret Sauce” that promotes its services to women-owned small businesses in the culinary sector. The initiative launced with a national advertising campaign featuring the personal stories of three women and their business challenges. It also features a Google Maps function that allows consumers to identify women-owned small businesses in their communities.

The campaign also includes a funding program in association with Pier Five intended to assist women expand heir businesses. Five women-owned small businesses will receive $10,000 in funding. Eligible business owners can apply online until the end of the month at <http://www.pier-five.com/smallbusinessfund>. The winners will also attend a networking event with other women business owners and Mastercard executives.

“In Canada small businesses serve as the foundation of our economy and are the pillars of communities, but many Canadian women who start their own business make less than their male counterparts,” said Nishant Raina, small business lead for Mastercard in Canada. “Women-owned small businesses need access to support and resources that will empower them to thrive. This campaign does just that. It gives women-owned small businesses a platform to connect with customers and creates a powerful community of peers and mentors to learn from and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
