MOLSON TAKES DRAFT BEER HOME
By Adnews Staff
Toronto-based Molson Breweries began testing a home draft beer unit in Calgary this week. The unit fits into a standard sized refrigerator. It takes up about the same amount of space as a 12-pack of beer, but holds six litres of beer, which is equivalent to 17 cans of beer. The recyclable package is comprised of three parts. A cardboard box holds a large plastic bottle with a dispensing tap. Inside the bottle is a plastic bag filled with beer and a balloon, which exerts a constant pressure on the beer as the level goes down. The test is for Molson's Canadian brand of beer and will last through the summer. If successful, the unit will roll out to the rest of Western Canada. Print advertising in Calgary support the launch of the unit. It was created by Palmer Jarvis Advertising of Vancouver.
