NEW DRUG FIGHTS CHOLESTEROL

A new drug to lower cholesterol has been approved by Health Canada. Parke-Davis Canada has received marketing approval for the drug called Lipitor. It can lower cholesterol by up to 60% across the range of 10mg to 80mg in patients with high cholesterol. The drug will be co-promoted with Pfizer Canada. Officials at both companies were unavailable to comment on how the drug will be promoted. Edelman Public Relations Worldwide of Toronto is handling PR. Lipitor has also been cleared for marketing in the U.S., United Kingdom and Germany.
