STAR TO HIT TV

Toronto-based Torstar Corp., owner of The Toronto Star newspaper, plans to set up a television station in the fall. The company says it has agreed to purchase Toronto-based Rogers Communications Inc.'s Direct to You, a license-free cable television business. Torstar's station would be called the Toronto Star Network and carry a mix of news, information and advertising. The service will be available on all of Rogers' systems throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
