Canadian Federation of Independent Business conducts pandemic initiative

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business has begun a promotion called “Small Business Every Day,” intended to support small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic. The effort encourages consumers to support local firms online while they are closed and in person when they reopen. The promotion includes the participation of Distantly.ca, an online donation service operated by Toronto-based technology company Buildable.

“At Distantly.ca, we provide a platform for community members to contribute directly to their local merchants,” said Jennifer Tkachuk-Tremblay Stasiewich, CEO of Distantly.ca. “CFIB’s ‘Small Business Every Day’ initiative allows us to reach more businesses, in more communities across the country. At the end of the day, the recovery of small businesses and their ongoing ability to thrive coming out of COVID-19, is a critical piece of Canada’s economic recovery and a key element of sustaining the local communities we know and love.”
