Postmedia begins news website upgrade program

Postmedia Network of Toronto has begun an initiative to upgrade its news websites. According to the company, the changes are intended to improve the user experience for audiences and increase performance for advertisers. The upgrades will debut today at the website of the Windsor Star, rolling out to all Postmedia properties over the next several months. The initiative is being promoted with an advertising campaign produced in-house.

The upgrades are intended to maximize browsing speed and improve ease of use on desktops and mobile devices. The chainges include a new visual style, cross-device commenting, an emphasis on video, new discoverability features and improved accessibility and privacy functions. New features for advertisers include additional ad space on the home page and adjacent to long-form content and improved performance among other elements.

“More than just a website refresh, Postmedia is adopting an entirely new platform of technologies that bring outstanding user experiences and expanded offerings for advertisers,” said Mary Anne Lavallee, chief operating officer at Postmedia. “Extensive beta testing has shaped the new experience and data proves that users love the new platform with its super-fast load times and improved discoverability.”
