Awards: IABC Toronto

The Toronto chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators distributed its annual Ovation Awards on May 29. The awards recognize achievement in the field of communications in the Greater Toronto Area. Weber Shandwick Canada was named large agency of the year, while Strategic Objectives was named mid-sized agency of the year. Craft Public Relations won the award for small agency of the year, while Ruckus Digital was names boutique agency of the year.

The Regional Municipality of York was designated the communications department of the year, while the Canadian Payroll Association was named the not-for-profit communications department of the year. Weber Shandwick Canada won the People’s Choice Award for its “The Woods Parka Lodge” media relations campaign. The Bobbie Resnick Student of the Year award was given to Shane Madill of Centennial College.

“This year's list of winners demonstrates that when great minds connect strategic thinking and creative execution with measurable results, the impact on the business is immeasurable,” said Stephanie Thornbury, vice-president of IABC Toronto.
