Dentsu Aegis Network has released a global advertising spending forecast for 2019. According to the agency, based on data from 59 markets internationally, global ad spending will increase by 3.6% this year to US$609.9 billion. Spending on digital advertising will increase by 11.5% in 2019 and by 2020 will represent approximately 45% of total spending. Spending on mobile ads is predicted to increase by 21.4% this year.

Total ad spending in Canada is predicted to increase by 5.3% in 2019 to $12.8 billion, followed by a 5.7% increase in 2020 to $13.5 billion. Digital ad spending is expected to increase by 8.6% this year, representing 50.6% of the total. Outdoor ad spending will increase 9.9%, while radio ad spending will rise by 0.9%.

“We're seeing that digital ad spend continues to lead growth in the Canadian market, accounting for more than half of all anticipated ad spend in 2019,” said Hisham Ghostine, president of media brands at Dentsu Aegis Network Canada.
