POLAND SETS UP AD INDUSTRY SELF-REGULATION COMMITTEE

Poland's marketing community has set up a self-regulation council so advertisers will adhere to a code of ethics, and to counter the government's interest in Polish advertising practices. Called the Polish Advertising Committee Initiative, the members, including manufacturers, agencies and the media, must adhere to a code of ethics that guarantees honesty and morality in advertising. In the next few weeks, the Polish government is expected to vote on a consumer protection bill that could affect the use of nudity, aggressive behavior, negative role models and subliminal messages in advertising. Recently it passed a law which strengthens the ban on alcohol advertising.
