THEATRES ADD ENTERTAINMENT CENTRES
By Adnews Staff
Playdium Entertainment Corporation and Famous Players, both of Toronto, are teaming up to bring high-tech, interactive entertainment facilities to Canadian movie-goers. Called TechTowns, the new centres will operate inside Famous Players theatres. Playdium will provide the centres with the latest high-tech simulators and attractions from Sega and other software developers. Thirty-two TechTowns are planned over next two years. Four facilities are already running and another seven should open this spring. Currently there are no advertising plans for the TechTowns, but as part of the partnership agreement, ads for Playdium's Sega City@Playdium Mississauga entertainment complex will begin running in Toronto-area Famous Players theatres. The ads will be rolled out to other theatres as Playdium and its partner Japan-based Sega Enterprises build more centres across the country. Ads for the Sega-Playdium partnership are created by Boom Design of Toronto. Media buying is executed by Media Experts of Montreal, while PR is handled by Temple Scott Associates of Toronto.
