LEO BURNETT GETTING MORE CREATIVE

Leo Burnett Company, Ltd. of Toronto has purchased Aha! Creative Insight Inc., also of Toronto. The deal becomes effective Jan. 20. Aha! is a creative planning agency that helps advertisers produce more effective ads. Tony Johnstone, Aha!'s president, has developed three techniques to help advertisers get inside their customers' heads. The techniques involve such processes as questionnaires, focus groups and software solutions. Johnstone, who previously worked as an account planner at Leo Burnett, had sold his company's services to a variety of agencies including Leo Burnett. With the acquisition of Aha!, the three creative-testing techniques become the exclusive property of Leo Burnett. Jim McKenzie, Leo Burnett's president and CEO, told Adnews Aha!'s services "will make us smarter about consumers."
