Communo buys LocalSolo

Calgary-based Communo has acquired LocalSolo of Vancouver. Both companies specialize in providing networking services to freelancers in the marketing industry. LocalSolo will become the Vancouver office of Communo. The four-year-old company has approximately 28,000 freelance members. Co-founders Mark Fromson and Stephen Hayes-McCoy will join Communo.

"The marketing, advertising and digital services industry needs a platform that can service its unique needs and this is the first of many strategic acquisitions that will make big progress for our industry," said Ryan Gill, CEO of Communo. "There are lots of players, but few are checking all the boxes or making a meaningful impact. We're excited to combine the strengths of the Communo and LocalSolo platforms, members and, most importantly, executive talent."
