Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters begins social media campaign

Ottawa-based industry association Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters has begun a social media campaign called "We Can Do It" intended to attract women to manufacturing jobs. The campaign encourages women to post images of themselves online posing in the style Rosie the Riveter, a spokescharacter who encouraged women to work in factories during the Second World War.

"If you can see me, you can be me," said Rhonda Barnet, president and COO of Steelworks Design and spokesperson for the campaign. "By sharing the stories of successful women in today's manufacturing world we hope to encourage mentorship, and to help change the image of manufacturing for women and girls to inspire them to pursue a career in the sector. Together we can do it."
