EXPRESSVU PROMISES NEW LAUNCH DATE
By Adnews Staff
After several false starts, ExpressVu Inc. of Mississauga, Ont. says it will launch its direct-to-home satellite service nationally in the summer. The service will feature over 75 channels of TV, music, pay TV and pay-per-view stations. Advertising plans for the service are still in the works. ExpressVu hasn't decided yet if it will handle the advertising in-house, or if it will use its agency, CommuniquŽ of Toronto. ExpressVu was formed in 1994, but has been plagued by equipment problems and lack of satellite space. The company is owned by BCE Inc. and Canadian Satellite Communications, both of Toronto, as well as WIC Western International Communications of Vancouver. Tee-Comm Electronics of Milton, Ont. was originally a partner in the company, but bowed out in the fall to launch its own DTH satellite service.
