CMA releases cannabis marketing guide

The Toronto-based Canadian Marketing Association has released a guide intended to help Canadian cannabis marketers comply with federal regulations. The guide provides an overview of marketing practices that are permitted by the recent legislation, as well as activities that are prohibited, and those upon which the legislation is unclear. In addition to advertising, the guide covers topics including signage, packaging and the sale of branded non-cannabis merchandise.

"The CMA Guide on Permitted Cannabis Marketing Activities provides information and insights to help marketers in this newly legalized sector to comply with the legislation and follow best practices," said John Wiltshire, president and CEO of the association. "It supports the CMA's mandate to provide educational resources to maintain and strengthen the professionalism and integrity of the marketing community in Canada."
