TOSHIBA ADDING NEW NOTEBOOK

Toshiba of Canada will add a computer with the latest Intel Pentium chip technology to its line of Tecra notebooks. Called the Toshiba Tecra 740CDT, the computer will be released in Canada and the U.S. later this month. The system includes the just-released Intel 166 MHz Pentium processor with MMX. a 2.02 gigabyte hard drive, 10X CD-ROM and a 13.3 inch screen. The MMX chip is ideal for graphics-rich applications and works especially well with software designed specifically for use with the MMX technology. Such software will carry an identifying Intel MMX logo. Toshiba, of Markham, Ont. will not launch any ads specifically focusing on the new notebook, but it will be included in new advertising for Toshiba's notebook line. A national print campaign for the notebooks will kick off later this month. The advertising will be handled by Promanad Communications Inc. of Toronto.
