IMPERIAL LIFE INTRODUCES NEW FUND

Toronto-based Imperial Life launched a guaranteed RRSP fund that mirrors the performance of ten international stock markets indices this week. Called Index Plus, the fund carries a minimum investment of $500. It is available until March 1 in five or eight-year term deposits. The return will be based on the combined average growth of the ten international market indices and Imperial is guaranteeing the return of the original investment at either maturity or the death of the holder. Large investments of $10,000 or more qualify for a 5% bonus return on investors' profits, while money invested for the eight-year term earns an additional 15%. Terry Mash, Imperial's director merchandising investment markets, told Adnews that advertising for the fund would be limited. Ads are appearing in Forum, a publication targeted at Canadian investment agents and brokers. In addition, Imperial Life representatives have been armed with camera-ready ads they can run in local markets. Media Profile of Toronto created the ads.
