NATIONAL TRUST RELEASES NEW PRODUCTS
By Adnews Staff
National Trust of Toronto unveiled a spate of new products this week. In addition to two new mutual funds, the company introduced a series of four retirement investment portfolios. The two new funds, known as the Canadian Index Fund and the U.S Index Fund, are designed to mirror the performance of the TSE 300 Index and the Standard & Poor's 500 Index respectively. They do so by holding most of the securities making up each index. The four investment portfolios, known as the Retirement GOAL Portfolios, are designed to evolve with clients as the clients progress towards retirement age. Each portfolio holds a mix of National Trust Mutual Funds that invest in cash, fixed-income investments and equities. The specific names of the four are Retire 2010, Retire 2020, Retire 2030 and Retire 2040, with the portfolio name reflecting the year the holder expects to retire. All four begin as aggressive portfolios, but moves towards more stable holdings in fixed income funds as the holder nears retirement age. Both the funds and portfolios will be advertised in national print and newspaper insert campaigns beginning in February. National Trust's agency of record, D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles of Toronto, will handle the advertising.
