U.S.-based International Business Machines Corp. launched its 1997 World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia Deluxe Edition to the worldwide market this week. The double CD-ROM features videos, simulations and virtual reality. Users will also receive a 30-day trial of Cyber Patrol, which prevents children from accessing inappropriate Internet sites. They will also get 30 days of free access to Infonautic's Electric Library, which provides more than 1,000 full-text newspapers, magazines and selected international newswires, 2,000 works of art and literature and thousands of photographs. Search features of World Book include around the world, just looking and quick facts. In Canada, national print advertising supports the launch of World Book. It was created by Ogilvy & Mather of New York. The agency's Toronto office localized the ads and did the media buy.
