Toys R Us Canada seeks chief play officer
Retail chain Toys R Us Canada has begun a contest promotion in the form of a search for a "chief play officer." The company is seeking a child between the ages of 10 and 12 to test and advise on new toys, as well as to act as a spokesperson in online videos and at promotional events. The current chief play officer has held the position since 2016.
Consumers can enter by submitting a video audition at <http://www.toysrus.ca/cposearch> until Aug. 21. According to the company, videos will be evaluated on the basis of originality, creativity and enthusiasm. Ten finalists will travel to Toronto to compete in a live final audition. The winner will receive a one-year contract with the company that will begin in January 2019.
"Toys R Us Canada is here to play and here to stay, and as part of this commitment we are excited to announce that we are hiring our next chief play officer," said company president Melanie Teed-Murch. "This is one of the most exciting positions in our company because there is no better way for us to know our consumers and Canadian children than to have one as a trusted advisor. Our current CPO has been a great champion of play over the last two years and we are excited to have him help us find the next incredible child to fill the role."
