Government of Canada continues Choose Science campaign

The Government of Canada has begun a new interactive campaign intended to establish role models and mentors for young women interested in pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The effort is part of an ongoing campaign called "Choose Science," conducted by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada. The campaign began on Feb. 11, the International Day for Women and Girls in Science, with a panel discussion hosted at Facebook Canada in association with charitable organization Actua. The event featured Canadian women in science and technology fields. The campaign will encourage women in these fields to share their personal stories about their passion for science.

"I am proud of all the women and girls who want to make a difference in the world through science," said Kirsty Duncan, Minister of Science. "It is our job to celebrate their accomplishments, nurture their desire to discover, and share their stories so that other young women and girls know a bright future in the sciences is within their reach. On this International Day for Women and Girls in Science, I wish them all the very best."
