Takeda Canada conducts In Their Shoes promotion

Takeda Canada, a pharmaceutical company based in Oakville, ON recently conducted an initiative called "In Their Shoes" intended to raise awareness of inflammatory bowel disease. The promotion involves 15 participants who took part in a two-day simulation of living with the disease. The initiative made use of a mobile application that delivered instructions to the participants at unexpected intervals asking them to do something an IBD patient might experience, such as getting to a washroom within one minute. The participants included a nurse practitioner, employees of Crohn's and Colitis Canada, Takeda Canada employees and people with friends or family members with IBD.

"Takeda is committed to putting the patient at the centre of everything we do and with this program we are allowing more people, including our own employees, to understand as much as possible what the life of a person with IBD can be like," said Chatrick Paul, general manager of Takeda Canada. "It's one thing to understand a condition from hearing or reading about it, but to actually live the things patients who take medicines like ours go through on an hourly basis, even for a brief period, gives a much deeper understanding."
