BIG BLACK HAT BITES THE DUST
By Adnews Staff
Big Black Hat Inc. shut its doors this week after failing to meet its financial obligations. In a letter to its suppliers, the agency says its insolvency is due primarily to two factors; former clients failing to pay invoices and the resulting cash flow problems hurting new business efforts. Big Black Hat could not be reached for comment as its number is out of service. However, Victor Sagar, co-owner of former client Down Under Bedding told Adnews he was not surprised that the shop had gone out of business. He said that the agency had seemed disorganized when it put together a print ad for Down Under during the summer. Shortly after the ad ran, Big Black Hat and Down Under parted ways. Sagar said the company is now handling its advertising in-house. Big Black Hat's principals were: partner and art director Stephen Morgan, partner and writer Michael Moss and account planning director Martin Weir. The agency's published client list included: Down Under Bedding, Eye Magazine, InContext Corporation, Soapberry Shop, Rogers Multi Media Inc. and Vision TV.
