Rogers of Toronto has signed a three-year sponsorship agreement with Baseball Canada, the national governing body for baseball in this country. The sponsorship includes the Team Canada junior national, senior national and women's national teams. It will also incorporate content creation initiatives with Rogers and specialty channel Sportsnet.
As part of the agreement, Rogers and Sportsnet, in association with the Blue Jays, will conduct a series of events on Canada Baseball Day on July 30. These events will include special broadcasts and activities at stadiums nationally intended to highlight the sport of baseball.
"Baseball matters to Canadians, and we are committed to connecting fans to the game they love," said Dale Hooper, chief brand officer at Rogers. "This partnership gives us another opportunity to elevate the sport in new and innovative ways, while celebrating its growth across the country."
In related news, Rogers, Sportsnet and the Blue Jays have begun a spring baseball campaign consisting of a co-branded 120-second television commercial. The ad, along with two 30-second versions, will run on Rogers Media properties and digital media leading up to the first Blue Jays home game on April 11. It will continue through the baseball season.
