Dubdub releases new mobile app

Toronto-based mobile developer Dubdub has released a new application called Dubcandy that allows users to receive revenue from shopping links embedded in videos they create. The application is aimed primarily at "influencers" who create online content. The software also allows video makers and the brands appearing in the videos to track the reach of a video. The free application is available for Apple devices, with an Android version scheduled for release later this month.

"Dubcandy is turning the influencer market on its head," said Zbigniew Barwicz, president and CEO of Dubdub. "Historically, brands paid influencers to generate awareness but were unable to attribute direct sales from their efforts. Influencers would wait for a brand to approach them, typically based on the size of their following. Now, brands have more transparency on which content and influencers moved the dial. Any influencer will have the opportunity to generate income without waiting for a brand to approach them. This is a significant disruption and one we felt was overdue."
