War Amps begins lawn mower awareness campaign

Ottawa-based charitable organization War Amps has begun a summer awareness campaign aimed to educate children about the dangers of lawn mowers. The campaign, called "Playsafe," consists of public service announcements relating the stories of two children who lost limbs in lawn mower accidents. These are being accompanied by a parade float, presentations to children's groups and a section of the WarAmps.ca website.
"Every year we see children enrolling in our Child Amputee Program due to lawn mower accidents that could have been prevented," said Rob Larman, director of the Playsafe initiative at War Amps. "These accidents can happen so quickly and lead to life altering consequences."
