CRTC reports on specialty and pay television

The CRTC has released its 2014 report on the financial performance of Canada's specialty, pay, pay-per-view and video-on-demand television services. According to the report, revenues from these services increased by 3.1% in 2014, up from $4.1 to $4.2 billion. This was mostly due to a 5.9% increase in subscription revenues, to $160.3 million. National advertising revenues declined by 4.2% to $53.6 million in the same period. Expenses increased from $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion in 2014, resulting in a decline in profits from $1.1 billion to $1 billion.
