SELECTVIEW TO LAUNCH CABLE ALTERNATIVE

SelectView Cable Services of Toronto is hoping to have its digital wireless cable service up and running mid-1997 and will launch a campaign at that time to support the service. The campaign will use TV, newspaper, radio and magazine ads created by LA Ads of Toronto. LA Ads was hired for the business over the summer. SelectView had talked to a few other agencies, but chose LA Ads because company president Douglas Lloyd worked with the agency when he was president of TeleRoute Communications of Toronto. SelectView is currently waiting for approval to launch its service from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission. It is hoping to get approval within three weeks. SelectView will offer customers wireless cable service in Southern Ontario from Lake Ontario to Lake Simcoe and from Oshawa to Cambridge. It will broadcast from the CN Tower in Toronto and offer 75 channels for as low as $16.95 per month. Other subscription tiers of $21.95 and $31.95 per month will also be available. Each subscriber will have an option of choosing Pay-For-View movies and television programs for a "nominal" cost.
