Cancer Care Ontario begins direct mail campaign

Cancer Care Ontario of Toronto has begun a direct mail campaign encouraging residents of the province to get screened for breast, colorectal and cervical cancer. A direct mail piece promoting the Ontario Breast Screening Program will be sent to women between the ages of 50 and 74. Men and women between 50 and 74 will receive a piece promoting the ColonCancerCheck program. Women between 30 and 69 will receive a piece promoting the Ontario Cervical Screening Program.

"Through this campaign we want to reach all those people who have not been screened, remind them that screening for cancer is important and inform them that there are services available to them," said Linda Rabeneck, vice-president of prevention and cancer control at Cancer Care Ontario. "Not everyone sees their family doctor regularly, so not all Ontarians are having those important conversations about when it's time to screen for cancer."

Cancer Care Ontario is an agency of the Ontario government.
