Entertainment One buys Paperny Entertainment

Toronto-based Entertainment One has acquired Paperny Entertainment, a Vancouver-based producer of films and television programs. The company specializes in documentaries and reality TV shows. According to Entertainment One, the acquisition is intended to increase its stock of unscripted and factual programming for international markets. Paperny will continue to operate under its own brand name. Its partners David Paperny, Cal Shumiatcher and Audrey Mehler will joine Entertainment One. Paperny's productions include Timber Kings, Cold Water Cowboys, Yukon Gold, Chopped Canada and Chow Masters.
"Paperny has a very strong track record of success in unscripted television and they will keep their widely-respected brand intact as they continue to do what they do best now under EOne," said John Morayniss, CEO of Entertainment One. "We won't change their winning formula."
