Tourism Calgary begins Under the Hat promotion

Tourism Calgary began a promotion called "Under the Hat" in Toronto yesterday. The initiative launched with what the organization describes as the "largest inflatable white cowboy hat ever to float in water," located in the city's harbour. The hat promotes the start of a two-day event at Harbourfront Centre on May 17 and 18. The event will include a 50-foot climbing wall and a 360-degree promotional video, as well as music, dancing and food from Calgary.

"We'd love for Toronto to come discover all that Calgary has to offer," said Jeff Hessel, vice-president of marketing at Tourism Calgary. "If you think you know Calgary, get ready to be surprised. We are a cosmopolitan basecamp to adventure with some of the country's best dining and entertainment, newest attractions, biggest events and quick access to four UNESCO World Heritage Sites with some of the most breathtaking geography in the world. We're here to invite Torontonians to visit us and see for themselves this summer."

Tourism Calgary is conducting this campaign in association with the Calgary Stampede, Travel Alberta, Banff Lake Louise Tourism, the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance and Heritage Park Historical Village.
