Colgate-Palmolive launches Flu Tracker website

Colgate-Palmolive has launched a new website promoting its Softsoap brand. The site, located at <http://www.flutracker.ca>, allows Canadians to monitor social media mentions of the flu virus nationally and by neighbourhood. The site also offers information on the disease, hand hygiene advice, social media features and maps from Google, as well as a coupon for a discount on the antibacterial soap. The promotion is intended to allow consumers to avoid the flu by limiting their exposure.

"In a way, promoting flu awareness through social media is perfect for a campaign like this because it spreads through social activity," said Nadia Said, brand manager at Colgate-Palmolive. "People share everything, good news, bad news and even when they're sick. It was a natural thing to tap into and giving people a way to share information, rather than the flu itself, was key."
