Canadian Women in Communications rebrands

Ottawa-based Canadian Women in Communications has rebranded itself as Canadian Women in Communications and Technology. According to the organization, the new name is intended to reflect an expanded mandate in its efforts to help women be successful participants and leaders in the digital economy. The organization specializes networking, mentoring and educational activities for approximately 2,500 members in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors.

"It's a new day for members of Canada's leading organization for professional women," said Janice McDonald, chair of the group's board of directors. "As Canadian Women in Communications and Technology, we'll build even stronger links between the communications and technology sectors. We'll leverage our partnerships with other professional associations, government departments and major industry sponsors to help women advance in the digital age."

In related news, several new members have joined the board of Canadian Women in Communications and Technology. They are: Namir Anani, president and CEO of the Information Communications Technology Council; Nancy Chase, partner at KPMG Advisory Services; Jackie King, general manager of Hill & Knowlton; Dee-Ann Lama, marketing vice-president at Xerox; Sandy McIntosh, vice-president of Telus Customer Solutions Human Resources; Leanne Park, senior director of professional services and sales at Cogeco Cable; Shirley Anne Scharf, vice-president of applications and performance at the Communications Research Centre; and Jane Todd, chief financial officer of Densigraphix.
