Credit Unions of Ontario begins launch campaign

A group of approximately 30 Ontario-based credit unions has formed a new organization called Credit Unions of Ontario in an effort to raise awareness of co-operative banking in the province. The organization will encourage Ontarians to consider credit unions as an economically viable and socially meaningful alternative to traditional banks.

The launch of the organization is being accompanied by an advertising campaign consisting of television commercials, online ads and social media activities. The campaign is intended to change the perceptions and attitudes held by Ontario consumers about credit unions, and to educate them about the services available. The organization has also launched a website at Cooperativebanking.ca.

"Credit unions have always helped our members achieve financial freedom by putting members' best interests front and centre," said Stephen Bolton, president and CEO of Libro Credit Union and a spokesperson for the new group. "The Credit Unions of Ontario are excited to show Ontarians just what a great banking alternative we are. We do great things to help our members and the communities where we all live."
