VALU-NET TO INTRODUCE SECURE NET SHOPPING
By Adnews Staff
Valu-Net International Ltd. of Toronto will begin providing fully secure electronic transactions on the Internet by mid-October, as a result of arrangements made with Netscape, The Bank of Nova Scotia and Sun Microsystems Canada. Netscape will provide the software necessary to operate an on-line shopping mall. The Bank of Nova Scotia will assist in the process of authorizing credit card use and the system will use Sun technology set up by retailers in the shopping mall. Through Valu-net's Web site, shoppers can link to merchants in the mall, select items to purchase and order merchandise by contacting the merchants directly. They will be able to pay for purchases with a credit card. Shoppers will be able to track their selected items using an electronic shopping cart while they scan other sites, then confirm or discard each order selected at the end of their shopping session. The Valu-net Web site offers a Theme Park environment whose major attractions include The Valu-net SuperMall, Sports Entertainment Network, Golden Games, Friends Net and Send A Greeting.
