YOUNG ARTISTS TO PROMOTE RESPONSIBLE DRINKING

Young Canadians are being invited to submit artwork to the Brewers Association of Canada that could possibly be used in a national campaign to promote responsible drinking. The Ottawa-based organization will hand out $100,000 in award money to six winning entrants. Selected entrants will have the chance to participate in developing their messages into a nation-wide public service campaign entitled "Stand Up, Speak Out, Be Heard". Entrants are encouraged to submit work in art forms with which they are most comfortable, including film, video, music, writing, illustration and photography. Submissions will be accepted until Dec. 31, with a panel of judges from the Canadian arts, media and sports communities determining the winners in February, 1997. The contest is being promoted with posters and brochures appearing in Cineplex-Odeon theatres, Music World stores and Sam the Record Man outlets across Canada. Two Vancouver radio stations, CFOX and Z95, will be promoting the contest, with more stations across the country set to do the same. The campaign was handled by The Gingko Group Ltd. of Toronto, while Gossage Reid Corporate Communications, also in Toronto, is handling PR.
