Tourism Victoria begins Victoria Calling campaign

Tourism Victoria of Victoria, BC has begun a new promotional campaign in British Columbia, Alberta and Washington. The campaign, called "Victoria Calling," makes use of a bank of four telephone booths that will be installed in various locations through the campaign. Each booth contains on tablet computer that displays a first-person perspective video tour of a series of Victoria attractions. At the end of the tour, viewers will be offered a special travel package and a chance to enter a draw for $1,000. In addition, the "phones" in the booths will ring at random intervals. Consumers who answer the calls will win prizes by participating in a video chat with a Tourism Victoria representative. The initiative will also include local radio contests, public relations, online materials and social media activities. "Victoria Calling allows our target traveller the chance to experience what a trip to Victoria has to offer through rich media that puts them in the driver's seat," said Trina Mousseau, director of destination marketing for the organization. "We really want to close the loop and get them to book a trip now."
