TO2015 begins mascot contest

The Toronto 2015 Pan Am/Parapan Am Games Organizing Committee has begun a national contest promotion to find a mascot for the upcoming event. The initiative, which is open only to teams of children under age of 16, is based at a website located at <http://toronto2015mascot.ca>. Six submitted hand-drawn designs will be selected as finalists by a judging panel. These entrants will then work with a professional illustrator to create final designs that will be posted online for public voting. The winning mascot will act as the official spokescharacter of the games and will appear in costume, as well as on signage and branded merchandise, including in plush toy form. "This is a great opportunity for kids to dream up a one-of-a-kind mascot that will help us tell the unique story of our games," said Ian Troop, chief executive officer of the committee. "We're looking for entries made by teams of young people working and collaborating together. The idea is for kids to play together and let their imaginations run wild. We can hardly wait to see what they come up with." The contest will close on March 8. The winning design will be announced in August.
