WWF-Canada conducts Inevitable News campaign

Environmental organization WWF-Canada has begun a new campaign intended to raise public awareness of its efforts to stop the proposed construction of the Northern Gateway Pipeline through the Great Bear region of British Columbia. The campaign, developed by John St. of Toronto, takes the form of a news-style program called "The Inevitable News." Four online videos will be released via the WWF-Canada Facebook page over the next two weeks. The videos will purport to cover news of an "inevitable" oil spill and the resulting ecological impact. The videos will be supported with social media activities. "We were looking for a new way to help Canadians connect with the risks of a pipeline in the Great Bear ecosystem," said Darcy Dobell, Pacific region vice-president at WWF-Canada. "We've spent a lot of time talking about the risks of an oil spill in the Great Bear Sea both for people and nature. Now we want to take advantage of the region's incredible beauty to show Canadians what would, inevitably, be damaged by a pipeline."
