Save BC Parks campaign begins

The BC Government and Service Employees' Union has begun a summer campaign intended to encourage increased funding for the province's park system. The "Save BC Parks" campaign includes an online video featuring Bigfoot and a character named Ranger Dave. The video is part of an overall campaign that consists of online and print advertising that focuses on the impact of funding cuts to the provincial park system. The creative depicts park rangers as an endangered species. "BC's park ranger corps has been cut by more than 60 percent since 2001," says union president Darryl Walker. "We have the third largest park system in North America, and we can't afford to send the few rangers we have left out to patrol our parks."
