WORD TO HIT THE STREET AT MONTH'S END

The Word on the Street book and magazine festival will return to Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax on Sept. 29, uniting the country in a celebration of literacy and the printed word. The more than 400 combined attractions include exhibits by local and national publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries and writers' associations. Readings by noted authors, open-air performance stages and a Kids Street area will also be included. In Toronto, advertising will appear in the Toronto Star throughout September, on CHFI-FM two weeks prior to the festival's start and on CITY-TV until the middle of the month. TV ads will appear on the CBC in Vancouver and on MITV in Halifax. A national magazine campaign will see ads in Canadian Living, Toronto Life, Saturday Night and Modern Woman. There will also be posters and fliers in the three cities. The advertising was handled by Hambly & Woolley Inc. of Toronto.
