UN High Commissioner for Refugees breaks campaign in Ottawa

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has begun an advertising campaign in Ottawa intended to raise awareness of the decisions faced by refugees and displaced people in times of conflict. The campaign, called "Dilemma," consists of transit advertising that encourages viewers to consider whether they would choose to stay in a conflict zone and risk death, or attempt to flee and risk kidnap, rape or torture. The campaign is part of a global awareness campaign in support of World Refugee Day on June 20. It will run in Ottawa until July 1. "We want to compel Canadians to contemplate these same decisions and to put themselves in refugees' shoes," said Furio De Angelis, the commissioner's representative in Canada.
